27 years ago today, my mother was probably in the later stages of labour and about to give birth. I can imagine the thoughts that were running through her mind
"Lord, please let this baby be born safe and OK", "Lord, please be with the delivery of
this child"
...and then there is you, Dear Lord, with your profound strength and wisdom. You saw beyond that moment, you saw me on this very day turning 27
years of age and praising you for another year of life. On the 18th of May
1989, you saw me 27 years later being completely consumed with the realisation
that your lovingkindness is better than life!
Right now, I'm just sitting here in my hotel room (I'm not on holiday, so no travel diary...just a little countryside getaway *smiles* ) in complete awe of him. My God who declares "the end from the beginning and from ancient times
the things that are not yet done..."(Isaiah 46:10) Truly there is no one
else, there is none like you.
You called me 27 years ago to be your child,
even before I came to a knowledge of you. You have lead me further than my
human imagination thought to ever go, you have shown me higher heights and deeper
love.
Right now my heart is filled with overflowing gratitude for life! Not because of an additional year or because of health, family, friends etc (Just to clarify, those things are definitely important
to me and I give thanks for them daily) but more so because of God's unwearying kindness
and indomitable love.
